Happy February! :) 2-2-15
This past week went really well for my companion and I. We worked really hard! Worked in the heat, worked in the rain (Ill get to that), and all of it is so worth it.
So. My companion and I left the house one morning without rain jackets and without umbrellas. Bad idea. I was thinking that it might rain, but I didn’t think it would rain too hard. I was wearing a long sleeve shirt. It started raining while we were on the bus to go to our area. I was just like, oh great. Haha. It kind of stopped, and we started working for a little while in the morning. And then.... it POURED. Super hard. I could not have been more soaked. And it was a cold rain too. So my companion and I were just walking around in the rain and in the cold. We stopped by a future investigators house and we clapped to see if they were there. A lady came out and said that the guy we were looking for wasn’t there. We asked her if she had time and she basically just said, no, sorry. Haha. So, my companion and I just looked at each other and walked away. It was actually pretty funny. We saw these people staring at us through the window in the house in front of us. So we walked over to their house and they let us in. We started talking to them and they told us that they are both members! What the heck! Super awesome. Except the less awesome part is that neither of them have any desire to go back to church. So, we are actually having a lesson with them tonight (FHE) and I am really hoping that it goes well. We just need to give them that desire again. As for the being soaking wet part, my comp and I dried off eventually haha.
We have been teaching a lady named Luz del Alba. She is an investigator and she is progressing very quickly. We found her around end of our first week here. We have invited her to pray to see if Joseph Smith was a prophet, to see if the Book of Mormon is true, and if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church and she says that she has gotten an answer to all 3 of them and she knows that it is true!! It was so amazing to hear her say that. She had a little trouble with the last one, but then she said that she knows that God works in His own time when answering prayers, and by our next visit, she said that she received the answer that she knows that this is the true church. So amazing!! And we invited her to come to church this past Sunday. We knew that it would be difficult because we don’t have a church in our area so she would have to take a bus at 8 in the morning and travel half an hour. But Sunday morning, the elders called me and said "guess who’s here at the bus station with us?" And they said that Luz was there!! She came to church!! Man it was so amazing :) She said that she really enjoyed all of it. Its amazing to see miracles right in front of you.
This week was a pretty normal week. It went by super fast. In our district meeting this week we talked about how "Love is the Motive." We talked about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. We got the chance to listen to the talk by Holland. It was incredible. We need to know that when we are having rough times in our lives, we are not the first person to ask "why is this so hard?" Someone much greater than us once asked that question. I could never repay what Christ did for me, but I CAN do all that I can to serve Him. I am so incredibly grateful for what He did for me. I cant imagine how hard it was for him and how hard it was for the Father. But they both love us SO much. More than we can comprehend. Its incredible. I know that everything I am doing everyday is because I love my Savior. Love really is the motive.
I hope you all have an amazing week! Alma 7:11-12
