Hola! Como estan?
This week it was cold, hot, and everything in between. We never know what to expect here in Paraguay! But all is well, the work rolls along!
Here in Paraguay this week there were many wonderful things that happened.
The first, I got to see some old investigators get married and baptized this week in Laurelty! It was awesome and I was so grateful for that wonderful mercy from the Lord to be able to see the fruits. Because it doesn’t always happen. While they were getting married, and signing papers, I was thinking, what a simple thing... to be legally married and sign a few papers to be following more Jesus Christ. I thought to myself, so the last step they had to take to get baptized was sign those papers? But Its a lot more than that. Its a sign to Heavenly Father saying that they were willing to follow all of the commandments to be able to be baptized in the name of our Savior. And most of the commandments are like that. So simple, but what is the sign that we want to give God? That we are willing and humble, even for the littlest things, or prideful and not even willing "to look." Like the people in the time of Moses not even willing to look at the snake on the stick because of the easiness of it. I know that simple but exact obedience brings blessings and is a way we can show God even more love for Him.
We had a division this week and I was with Hermana Ramos. We had a lesson with a girl that we had never met, but I think she had been to the church once before. We were showing her the Book of Mormon and Hermana Ramos said that it was translated by the power of the Holy Ghost. And a while later, this girl said, "I know that the Book of Mormon is true because anything done by the power of the Holy Ghost is real and true" That surprised me that she said that. We don’t see that kind of faith very much. Even though she was very new to all of this, she was willing to accept it. And that’s the first act. Believe and accept. Now we just have to look for people in our area with that kind of faith!
Lately, its been kind of hard for me and Hermana Jones to find people to teach and have them progress. We keep thinking, what can we do better? How can we get more progressing investigators? And we've been trying and we have to keep trying to be better everyday and keep our heads up. Life isn’t perfect and it doesn’t always give us what we want. But we have to be willing at any moment to do anything for the Lord. And that is why we must keep going to our best so that when he does call us, we are ready. We just have to put our trust in the Lord!
This week prayers would be appreciated for Paraguay! Onto a week of searching! Thank you all for everything!
Love, Hermana Liesel Wiscombe
