Hola! This week was just dandy for us, I hope it was for all of you guys as well!
These are just a few of the things I will share this week, starting with our Wonderful investigators, Florinda and Gricelda. I have written about them a few times already, but they are just continuing to progress and its always such a blessing to be here witnessing this slow but sure change in their lives!
So this week we had another lesson with them and then afterwards we were talking with them and Hermana Florinda told us something that is always wonderful to hear-- She said that she knows she needs to be baptized. She can feel that that is one step that she is missing in her life. They are wonderful and their testimonies have grown so much since we have visited them. But to hear that they want to act in faith and take the same steps that Jesus Christ took and be baptized, is music to missionary's ears. I know that they are being prepared by the Spirit to progress and be faithful members of the church. That is why the Spirit is so so important. As a missionary, I know that this work could not be done with out the Spirit of the Lord.
Another experience we had at the end of the week was because of a goal that our zone put for us. They told us that we are going to be contacting 10 people every day, each missionary, to find the one child of God that can be baptized. Even though we might contact 100 people, I know that the Lord is preparing at least 1 of them. We just have to look! And more importantly, open our mouths! And so we did just exactly that. This past Saturday we talked to a lot of people, and by the end of the night we were able to contact a family that was sitting outside of their house. The Fernandez family. The Dad, Alex, is a member. He was baptized 13 years ago, but after a year left the church, due to work and he moved to another city that didn’t have the church in it. And so he went inactive. And his wife, Hilda, is not a member. And so we were able to find this part member family and yesterday we returned and had a lesson with them. They are just the best. They are so kind and open to the message that we have to share. I was so happy to be able to share this message that will bless their family and their lives forever. They have 2 kids and we are excited to be able to work with them!
This Tuesday we were able to do service as a district. We have an investigator, Yani. She recently had an infection in her foot and they had to cut her foot off. And so now she is left with 3 little ones and only 1 leg. And so its been a tough month for Yani. But as we have been able to teach her and visit her, I have seen and felt the amazing power of our Savior and his Atonement. I know that its real and that we can find hope even in the darkest of moments and when life just seems too hard to bare. This Tuesday we went to her house while she was in the hospital and we got to clean her house for her. Us Hermanas were inside cleaning while the Elders were helping outside with the Yard. I was so grateful for that opportunity to serve Yani while she is physically unable to do those things at the moment. Some members of our branch have been able to help her, by bringing her to the hospital and later, President of the Branch was able to visit her and gibe her a blessing. Its so wonderful when the Church works together and the members to help someone in need. Even though she is only an investigator, not a member of the church, and the members didn’t know her, They were so willing to help with this 1 person that needs so much help. She needs a lot of help physically but also spiritually. The members are to help the poor while the missionaries are here to help the poor in heart grow close to their Savior. It has been such a testimony builder to be able to testify that the Lord is always, ALWAYS, there for us. It doesn’t matter what we do, what sins we have made, he will always be there for us. This experience I know has helped Hermana Yani be humbled, but in that process, we were able to show up at her house in the right moment. When she needed help. I know the Lord is always guiding us.
Hey guess what?! Its finally Fall!! I haven’t had fall in a year and a half and oh how I’ve missed this beautiful season! Since the first day of fall here, it has felt instantly better. This past week was so hot but then the day that fall came, It was a lot cooler. And by cooler, I mean in the 80s. Yesterday was especially beautiful. Even in the night it was a bit chilly.. Its definitely weird! But I am welcoming in fall with arms wide open!
Well, that is about all for this lovely week. But I hope that you all are wonderful and growing everyday! Love you all!
