Hola! 2-23-14
How was everyone's week? How was everyone's February? And why does time go by so fast??
As for me, just fantastic! There are a few stories and lessons that I will share with you guys. The first being of an investigator, named Joel. He is 23 and has about everything that he needs. I think I wrote about him a few months back saying that he has the things he needs in life, the material things. He has a job, a car, an education.. all of it. But something that he didn’t’ have before was the gospel. He said that there was something always missing. Anyways, we got to visit him finally after a lot of time, and we taught him the things according to his questions. After a lesson one day he said that he was going to read the book of Mormon in the morning while drinking coffee. At first I said that that was good, muy bien... Sometimes being a missionary in a different country is a hard life, ok? haha But then my companion corrected me, thank goodness for companions! Anyways, we gave him a pamphlet for the word of wisdom. And that brings us to the next lesson we had with him. Something that is just so amazing is that the Lord is always working with his children. Whether they have a knowledge of the gospel or not, he is always trying to guide them. I know that he is always preparing people! We taught about the word of wisdom and how our bodies are temple given to us from our loving Heavenly Father. Joel then told us of an experience that he had 5 years ago. When he was 18, he really wanted a tattoo. But then he was reading in the bible one day and he found the scripture that said that our bodies are temples. And so after reading that verse, he didn’t want one anymore. And to this day he is grateful that he never got one. I know that the Lord is always there for us. With whatever question or trial we have, we can always receive guidance through the scriptures, the word of God.
Another lesson we had this week was with Flora, again. When we got there, her daughter's friend was there and she immediately started telling the friend of the experience that she had. Even before telling us, she was sharing with the friend her testimony and that she had had a dream. She told her in Guarani, so at first we couldn’t understand. But then she told us that she had a dream and there was someone in it that told her that the Book of Mormon (that we gave her the day before) and that the church is true. It was cool to me that she was already trying to share this gospel with others. I know that God answers prayers and that he is always guiding us! I am so blessed to be a witness everyday of these wonderful blessings and miracles of change.
Today we are going to teach another investigator, Humberto, of the Love of our Heavenly Father using 1 Nephi 8. I am happy to testify that we can partake of the Love of God by following the Word of God. That is why the gospel, the commandments, everything the prophets tell us, and the scriptures are so important. We have to obey in order to be worthy of the blessings of God!
Well, until next week, hope you all have a good one!
