Hey! How is everyone doing?
I have news! Or a lack of news... Me and Hermana Jones are staying together for our last change! Its pretty crazy really but I know there is more learning to do together! This week we had the privilege to stay in our area every single day together! That never happens! So we got to work super hard every day to find more people to teach! These are just some of the experiences I had from the week :
The first: We have a less active in our area named Liz Caballero. She has 4 kids and is a single mother. She has to work a lot to provide for her family and has a lot on her mind. But we had the chance to go see her this week with one of the members and talk to her and teach her. It started of kind of crazy because the member that came with us had her dog, well, it just followed us to the lesson, and so all of the other dogs in the neighborhood were barking the whole time. But we ignored them and started the lesson. We talked a lot about the plan of salvation and how she can use her agency the best by following Jesus Christ. It was a pretty good lesson but then nearing the end, another dog came in started barking a lot and so Liz was trying to get him to stop.. so the lesson got interrupted with that. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that they also have a pet sheep. So then the dog started chasing the sheep around and me and my companion couldn’t help but laugh. It was too ridiculous... But at least we were able to show Liz our love, that we were worrying about her. And guess who showed up in church for the first this year?? Liz and all of her family :) It made us so happy! We have been trying to help her so much! And have the goal of the temple :)
So yesterday after church it started raining while we were eating lunch. Luckily we skipped most of the rain and the rest of the day was drizzling. But yesterday I wore a pair of shoes that I don’t hardly ever wear. Some shoes are meant to walk all day on Paraguayan ground and some aren’t. These weren’t.. So little by little and slowly the bottoms of my shoes came off and so it was like I was basically walking around with fancy looking socks.. It was a fun experience. After a while we found a trash can and I said to my comp "Espere, voy a tirar mi zapato un ratito" and then my comp looks at me laughing and said," do you realize what you just said? Just a sec, I’m going to throw away my shoe real quick..." And yep, that’s nothing I’ve ever said in my life... haha we were just laughing, walking in the rain, practically barefoot. Some days get more creative than others :)
Something I think Heavenly Father is trying to teach me is how to have faith when things don’t work out or we don’t see the fruits of everything. We have been trying to do everything we can here and sometimes things don’t go the way we want. But I know that if I am constantly trying to stay obedient and diligent, God will bless me and my efforts. I say I have faith and I know by saying that, God tries it. But at the end of the day, I know He loves me and I will continue on being obedient! And that’s the key... Enduring.
Well, another week to follow Christ a little better! Pray, read, and continue having faith! Thanks for everything! Have a wonderful Monday!
Love, Hermana Liesel Wiscombe
