Hola! Mbaé chapa? I hope all is well!
To start off, I’m going to have to say I'm sorry. There wasn’t too much that went on this week out of the ordinary. Pretty normal week, with of course, lots of learning on the way.
This past week I have been getting over a cold and I have been coughing a lot, and it just happens randomly and at different times, but when it comes, its strong. Anyways, so I’m telling you all this because it has helped my companion a lot! As you may remember, I am training a new missionary, Hermana Larsen. And she is in the process of learning Spanish. Well, we all are here. So anyways, sometimes we will be in the lessons and I always try to give her a pretty good amount of time to talk and teach and be a help so that she can learn and her Spanish can progress. This past week as I have been coughing, she has had to talk every time while I cant. And so it kind of forces her to talk even though she might not know what to say sometimes. But she talks and I have seen her Spanish and her teaching skills increase a lot. Sometimes I just think, Wow, where did that come from? Its awesome to be a part and a witness of her growing process.
This week we were able to teach a few new people, either old contacts, or references. Something that I have learned along the way here, is that if somebody is prepared to accept the Gospel or not, I am only here as a messenger of the message that God has for His children. If people want to change and learn, they will put forth the effort. if not, we cant do much for them, and they wont act. But it amazes me to think about all of the people that we have seen progress and not of it was because of us. Its all because they have put to the test, their faith. And as a result, they have been able to receive a testimony that this is true. I am nothing but a servant of the Lord. But I want to be the best servant I can be. Always giving it my all. So that he can really work through me and I can be an instrument in His hands.
This past week I got finished reading the Book of Mormon (we read it as a mission focusing and highlighting every name of Christ or reference to him and His atonement). I didn’t count it up, but almost all of the chapters in the Book of Mormon have His name in there at least once. As I got done reading it, I realized just how involved Christ is in all of our lives. In the good, in the bad, in everything, he is always there. To fight with us, to give us mercy or forgiveness, to bless us, to beg us to change. He is always there! In Jacob 5:41 the Savior asks, "What could I have done more?" He is ALWAYS doing his all for us. He already has! He has atoned for every one of us, and he is still continuing to be involved in every time of our life. Now its our turn. He has done it all. We have to do the rest. We have to come unto him, We have to change, we have to act! And if we do so, he will be there to help us change our natures into somebody better. Let him be in every aspect of your life!
Well, like I said, not too much from this week. We are working with Cristian and the Familia Fernandes closely to keep them enduring to the end! Well, that’s about all. I hope you all have a wonderful week and that you are keeping up on the Book of Mormon! Too often we take it too lightly.
Have a good week! Love you all!
Love, Hermana Liesel Wiscombe
