Hola!
I’m so happy to say that me and Hermana Jones will be together for at least one more change. 6 more weeks to learn so much from her! I have really enjoyed this time I've had with her. Its been a blast and I have learned so much. She is such a hard worker and she helps me be better. On Tuesday when they told us what our changes were we were both so nervous and then they said that we would be staying together and we were both so happy!
To start off with, I know that the Lord helps us everyday. And I know that he gives us strength when it seems that we have none. This week we got to welcome some of the new missionaries here to Paraguay. So we had to wake up pretty early Wednesday morning and by the time we met them, we were already so tired. It was going to be a long day I already knew. But we welcomed them here and got them sent off with their new trainer and then we headed back to our area to work. I thought, "how am I going to do this in the heat so tired?" But we went on and talked to people, shared the Gospel the best that we could, and taught. And I don’t know how I got through the day with the energy that I had. I know that the Lord strengthens us when we give it all to Him and His work. Sometimes it just seems too hard. But I know that if we forget ourselves for the Lord, he will bless us. In times when you seem too tired or its too much what the Lord is asking, just forget yourself and get to work - His work. And he will bless and give you what you need. Its incredible.
This week we really tried to work with the members. Its always so hard here. But when we all work together, the work can really progress. If not, its so hard. Even though we shouldn’t go to church just for the people, having a ward or branch full of loving people, that really is a group of God. And it helps in all aspects of the work. So in your individual ward, think about what you can do to help the missionaries, help the members, and be united in this beautiful work of the Lord! The results weren’t immediate this week, but I have faith and hope that the Lord will bless our efforts, bless the members, and bless the people that we are teaching to feel the love of the Savior more in their lives.
This week we have run into a lot of people that have talked about the Bible and how we cant have more Bible. Like my companion says, we are not here to have a Bible bash.. The thing that I have realized lately is that either:
1) lots of people don’t even read the bible. They just say they believe in it. So that makes it really hard to get them to read anything else like the book of Mormon.
2) People say they believe it... but only some parts. We show them the scripture and they say they don’t believe in that part. what? I don’t’ know... or
3) They don’t understand that God talks to all of His children - in days of old as well as today, in one continent as well as another.
I’m just going to be honest, sometimes I want to get into the minds of some people and see how they think because sometimes it just doesn’t make sense. We try to explain in a very simple manner, but we cant make people believe. Sometimes is sad because we want to help. But they don’t want it.
Some people say, "well, why isn’t that found in the bible then?" such as joseph smith, or the restoration. And it all comes down to faith. If everything was given to us, what faith would we need? We just need to believe in something good and then act. Once we act- that’s when we'll know if its true or not.
I know that God is perfect and that he has given us so much. The bible. The book of Mormon. Ancient Prophets as well as prophets today (I’m so excited for General Conference!!).
Well, It was an interesting week. I learned a lot but here's to a new week and new adventures! Thanks for everything and for your prayers!
