Hola! Family and friends that I love so much! How is everybody doing this fine Monday?
I hope all is well with everybody especially all those mothers out there! Thank you Mom, grandmas, aunts, sisters, and every other mother out there for the wonderful examples and being just the best! Especially to my amazing mother! I love you!
So like I said last week, we got to talk to our wonderful families. We were able to all be on at the same time, even the other Sister Wiscombe (and we even got to talk in Spanish with each other!). It was wonderful and it makes me so grateful for the blessing of eternal families. That is ultimately our work here in the mission. We are teaching and preaching and walking and finding so that everybody is able to be with their loved ones for eternity! That is ultimately the best gift that our loving Heavenly Father can give us!
Onto this past week! To start off, last Monday we had an FHE with the familia Fernandez and President of the branch and his family. It was so wonderful. There was so much loved filled in that little room with the 10 of us. It was such a blessing to be there that night. There was a spirit there that was so strong. One of the strongest I've felt in a really long time. I can't explain the feeling - it was like I just wanted to jump out of my seat and smile so big. That's the only way I can find words to explain the wonderful spirit that was there. But, I kept my cool and we continued on with the lesson and showing a video afterwards. We talked about prayer and how if we ask fervently, and pray with all of the energy of our hearts, we will be heard and we will be answered. In Enos 1, it talks about prayer and how we can pray with the spirit. I've always been a little confused as to what that meant, but then President Gomez explained it a little like how after we pray, we have to act, that’s the only way we can pray with faith. I liked a lot too Enos 1:8. It talks about how he has so much faith in Christ that he was able to be answered. But the thing I love in the scripture is that it said that he has so much faith in a savior that was going to come. He hadn’t even come yet and he knew he would. For us, we have a Christ that has come. We have plenty of testaments and witnesses of our Savior. We are so blessed to have these so that we can have so much faith in him! Never under estimate the power of prayer!
Onto Tuesday.. As missionaries we had a meeting with President Gomez about all sorts of stuff. About the Work of the Lord, mostly. And it just made me realize that this is a big big work. We have a lot to do. Not just missionaries or leaders, but every one of us as members. We have a lot of responsibility and sometimes we just take it too lightly. This is salvation! I know that this work is marvelous and I have seen many miracles (big and small) in my life from trying to share the gospel.
On Thursday we had a lesson with a recent convert family. The Luna family. They are the cutest little family and I love them so much! But like each one of us, they are having difficulties and sometimes that makes it harder for them to go to church. So they aren't very active at all but we are working with them. She had begun to explain to us some of her problems and how she has them at home and that there’s not really a place she can go to escape from it. But I was more than happy to testify to her that the church every Sunday can be that refuge for her. We have a house of the Lord that we can go to, to rest from the world every week. I know that that is why the Sabbath day is a holy day, that its a commandment from God. He wants and knows that we need that rest. Because I have seen it here more than ever before, life is HARD. And spiritually sometimes we just get tired and feel like we no longer can conquer the world. Be humble, go to church, and that is our refuge!
On Saturday we were able to go and visit with the Familia Coronel. They are a pretty active family. Well a lot of them. A lot of them got baptized like 20 years ago. But there were a few that didn’t. On Saturday we were able to visit with one of the daughters that isn't baptized - Armi. She is like 40 or something like that. I’m not exactly sure. But We have been teaching her and she has been coming to church and its been such a blessing to be able to help her! Its interesting because her family is all so active and know a lot about the gospel. But Armi is like a baby in the gospel, starting with the small stuff. We wrote her the steps of how to pray and she really enjoyed getting to know that more. Sometimes we may think that families are okay with other members not being completely active or members or that they are used to it. But Hermana Coronel has been so grateful that we have been able to teach her daughter that she loves so much. I know that this whole family can be an eternal family and like I said before, that's why I'm here :) What an amazing calling this is!
Today we get to travel down to Asuncion to go to the temple tomorrow! I haven't been inside in like 9 months and I’m stoked!
Well, I'm sure I just talked all of your ears off, and that was just a little bit from the wonderful week we had. I hope that all of us can strive to be our best everyday and become more like our Savior, Jesus Christ! Thank you all and I hope you have a wonderful week! Until next time!
Love, Hermana Liesel Wiscombe
