Wow this week just flew by! Its so crazy when you’re busy how fast time goes. This week we had a lot of really great lessons.
First story of the week. My companion and I had a set lesson with a family that lived in kind of a dangerous area. We had them set for 8 o’clock I think (at night). We were at an investigator/less actives house teaching them a lesson (which Ill explain later), when we received a phone call. Hermana Sowards took the phone call because she knew it was important. They said that they had to schedule for a different day because someone in their family wasn’t feeling well. So we rescheduled them for a different day. We then decided to go to a different side of town to find a few people on a list that we have. We stopped for a while to look at the list and a car pulled up. "Hermanas!" I was like, Hermana Sowards, please tell me you know him.. and she was like "No.." And I was like, is he in our ward?? (because I recognized him). And she was just like, no I don’t know him. He got out of the car and told us that his name was Nefi. And we had talked to a guy named Nefi on the phone earlier that day. (He’s a member). that was a relief. And the reason why I recognized him was because he was in my old ward in my other area in Montevideo. He had called us earlier that day to ask Hermana Sowards for a picture that she took with his friend (long story). But at the end of the day, my companion and I were talking and we were like "how did he find us??" We were in a tiny neighborhood and our area is HUGE. We came to the conclusion that that is where we needed to be that night. And that the Lord had protected us. Because earlier that day, before we had left the house to go out to work, Hermana Sowards said, "I feel weird" And I asked her what it felt like. "Does it hurt?" And she was like, "no... I feel like I have butterflies in my stomach." We both thought that was weird so we prayed for protection before we left (and I changed my good Book of Mormon that I just bought for my old one in case we got robbed). But let me tell you. The Lord really works through the spirit. Everything happened the way it needed to happen, and I know that we shouldn’t have been in the area of the family that we were going to visit. The Lord always watches over us. Sorry if that story didn’t make sense.
But onto the lesson that we had with the investigator/less active. The mom isn’t a member, but the daughter is. But the daughter hardly remembers anything so we are just teaching them like they are both investigators. We decided to teach them about prophets and the restoration. It went really well! It seemed like they weren’t really understanding, so I asked them if they had a sheet of paper and a pen that I could use. I drew a picture of stacked cups,, each one saying a part of the gospel, like "Authority" "Teachings" "Jesus Christ" "Apostles" etc. and Jesus Christ and the authority were the cups at the bottom- the foundation. And I told them to imagine that the 2 bottoms cups were taken out. Everything else would fall. The church of Jesus Christ would fall. And this is what happened during the great apostasy. It fell, broke into many pieces, and this is how many churches formed. I tried to make it as simple as possible and when I had finished then mom had said, "I understand now." I absolutely love hearing that! Because that is my purpose here, to help people understand the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I want you all to know that I have a testimony of the Book of Mormon. It testifies of Christ. Every time I read that book I learn something new. And I testify of what Joseph Smith said that it is the most correct book of any book on this earth. And God loves us SO much that he gave us the fullness of His gospel so that we can know how to return to His presence. I know that our Heavenly Father is waiting for us. He is waiting for us to act on our faith. If we do what he asks us, he can mold us into the people that he wants us to be. Every son and daughter of God has the potential to become like our Savior, Jesus Christ. I love this gospel so much and I do not deserve all of the blessings that God has blessed me with. I am forever grateful for this mission for the Lords help. Look for Gods hand in your life, and count your blessings.
I love you all! Thank you for you prayers :) Have an amazing week
