Hey! How is everyone?
This week was fast and slow at the same time. I felt like I was just writing my last email yet, a lot happened this week.
I'll start with Tuesday. We had divisions with the Hermanas right next door. In the ward next to ours. I was with Hermana Rodriguez from Bolivia. She is pretty new in the mission but it was good to be with her. I learned a lot from her. But we had a super awesome experience together. We went to visit a lady that they had contacted a while back and so we went to her house and she wasn’t there. But her daughter was. So we asked if we could have a lesson with her. So we sat down and started talking and then we asked if she had ever heard of the Book of Mormon (we've been trying to focus more on the Book of Mormon as a mission). And she told us, yes, she was reading it. And we were like what?! She had told us that she found the book in her sisters house and decide to take it home and read it. She was in 1 Nephi 5 and had told us the story of what was happening. It was kind of crazy. So we had an awesome lesson about the words of Jesus Christ when he came to the Americas and then invited her to be baptized. As she accepted, she asked us how were our baptisms? And so we had the opportunity to share our testimonies about our baptisms. And even though I was only 8 years old when I got baptized, I felt something in that moment and I still remember it today. And I am constantly getting feelings like that as I live the gospel. It was an awesome lesson and I love experiencing moments like these, that I am blessed enough to witness this work and the word of the Lord changing people.
While being in my area, we had a few other good lessons. People accepting the gospel feels so good. And those moments make everything else worth it! Now our job is to help them do more than just accept it, but act! And have real faith! And that’s the more difficult part. But all ya gotta do is work work work!
Saturday we had another division with the Hermanas in Capiatà. I was with Hermana Chavez. It was very different from the first division I had, but like the other, I learned a lot. Its true when the scriptures say that the Lord will show you your weaknesses as you come to him. sometimes we can get overwhelmed with all of our weaknesses but we have to trust in the Lord and be very humble. Everyday I am learning this and trying to apply it. But one thing that is so important in this work is ministering to peoples needs. Not just teaching a lesson to make the time go by or because its your job. But really listening, caring, and helping the people by teaching them the gospel that will bless their lives. For all you out there, not just the missionaries can minister, but each and every one of you! Visit people, help them. Listen to them. And love them. The spirit will help you know what to say.
Well, that’s about all that I will share for this week. It was a pretty hot week. But it ended pretty well (or started) by participating in the sacrament. What a blessing that we have to be cleaned every week so that we can constantly have the spirit with us helping us in every step in our lives. I hope you all depend on the spirit this week to help you with anything and everything.
Well, love you all and we will be talking soon!
Love, Hermana Liesel Wiscombe
