Hola!
Sorry for not writing last week! We were running from city to city! The p-days are pretty crazy here with Hermana Morales because she is leaving this week :( I will miss her so much! But it's time for new things, new companions and more growing! Like really, I’m super nervous. But I know that everything is going to be okay and that’s why we have changes in life right? To grow and progress! So hopefully this next change will be one of that and a blast! We will know who my next companion is tomorrow!
As for this week lets start with the best part! Teaching and feeling the spirit and feeling the joy of helping someone in need! This week we got to go back to a contact that we had. Her name is Mirta and she is a mom of 4. 3 girls and a boy. The 3 girls really like going to church (whichever church) but her boy, 15 years old, is involved in drugs and stuff like that. So she was expressing to us her worries and how she has gone to so many people and places and nobody has answers. Right when she said that, I thought of the Book of Mormon. There’s not anything in the Book of Mormon that talks about drugs or her problem exactly, but I know that as we read this book, our lives will be filled with answers. We will be able to recognize the spirit more easily and be able to receive the personal revelation that we need everyday and for all of our problems. So we shared a scripture and invited them to read the Book of Mormon. And then we invited them to be baptized, they accepted. And to go to church with us (yesterday). Mirta has desires to grow closer to the Lord and have a family more united and with more love. So we stopped by their house Sunday morning to pick them up and sadly, the Mirta couldn’t come, but her daughters came with us. 9 and 7 years old. They both really liked it and the older one, Juliana, said she loved it and asked us about baptism (we had a baptism right after church so they were able to see that. but ill get to that a little later). We returned to their house and the mom said that she will be going to church with us next Sunday. But we will be returning to them this week to teach them more about Jesus Christ! I hope that they will be able to progress! The Gonsalez family!
So about the baptism.. we had the opportunity to teach and help Jesus Arce enter into the waters of baptism! He's 11 and super smart and has the desires to follow Jesus Christ. There were a lot of kids there to support him. So that was kind of crazy! But it was a good experience. Even though he's really young and doesn’t understand everything about life or the gospel or stuff like that yet, he has desires and I know that this was a big act of faith on his part. Even though we don’t 100% know that baptism will be does something after death, and in the eternities. We have the hope and the faith to do this simple, but so important, covenant with God. I know that faith in the Lord leads us to eternal life!
Well, onto a new week and new change! I hope all of you are doing well and enjoying the summer like me! Its oh so hot! But, the work goes on! Love you all! Thanks for everything! Have a wonderful week :)
Love, Hermana Liesel Wiscombe
