Hola Familia y amigos! Cómo les va? How was conference?? No, really, I'd like to know haha...
This weekend we had a few difficulties with watching conference down here in Concepcion. Saturday we got to watch the morning session (most of it) and then after that, in between session started a rain storm. And before the next session, the power went out. We waited for a little while, hoping, but we didn’t get power for the rest of the night. So we had to be in our house for the night, while there was no light in the city. And then for Sunday we woke up to the power still out. We were turning on and off the lights all morning to see if we had power yet, but still nothing. But we went to the church anyways, hoping. We prayed as missionaries, knowing that the members and investigators needed to hear the messages of our prophets and apostles. During the morning session, the power was still out. But right before the evening session, we finally received power! It was surely an answer from the Lord! So we were able to watch a little bit of conference this weekend. I cant tell you much about the talks, because I watched in Spanish, which is quite difficult.. haha but It was cool to hear the 2 talks in Spanish without a translator.
Something that I can share, or testify of though, is that these people that spoke are all inspired by God. I know that these are the messages that God wants us to hear! I know that God speaks with us today, and that only through modern revelation can we be guided as a people!
We were able to experience a few wonderful things this week in our lessons and with the people that we teach. When I was with Hermana Bennett, we found a few boys and their sister that we were able to teach. They have so much desire to learn more about Jesus Christ. So we were able to teach them a few times back in January. But after that, we couldn’t find them when they were in their house to teach them. It was almost 3 months, until the other day we were contacting on the other side of town. We were trying to find a house but then decided to contact a group of people sitting outside. One of the boys, Tadeo, was there! And we were able to set up an appointment with them. Its funny how things work out here sometimes. But I know that when we work with them more, they can progress.
Another thing that was good for me was another lesson with Hermana Florinda and her daughter, Gricelda. We were going to show them the video Because He Lives. But then Griceldas husband showed up and another one of the daughters of Florinda. So we had a few more people to teach and show this video. Something that was really cool to see was that sometimes we don’t think that people are going to listen. But in that lesson, the husband, Eric and the other daughter Deda, talked more than Flora or Gricelda. I love to see people change. It helped me to see that we can NEVER judge another person. No matter what, we have to always try to share the gospel. Most times we don’t know if they will accept or not. But we just have to try. And once we do that, The Lord can use us as tools to talk to his children :)
Well, I hope you all learned something from our wonderful leaders! And always know that Heavenly Father loves us! Talk to you soon!
